Dialogue at the food can factory
The story of the Dacapo Theatre began at Haustrup, today Glud & Marstrand in Odense.
Lone Thellesen worked at the company for 12 years, managing the employees´health service. In the late ‘80s she was looking for methods to initiate a live dialogue across the large organisation.
At that time she met dramaturg, actress and director, Lena Bjørn and they started working together. The inspiration came from forum theatre which was invented by the Brazilian Augusto Boal back in the ‘50s.
The first theatre plays
The co-operation between Lena and Lone resulted in two theatre plays – performed by a group of employees at Haustrup – about humanity in the industry and the everyday work life for a security service group. The two plays were enacted at various workplaces in Denmark. In 1995 the two women established the Dacapo Theatre with professional actors and advisers.
Custom-made plays and longer strategic processes
Today, the customers are both public and private organisations and the custom made plays has a central position in the work of Dacapo. Often, we assist companies in longer strategic processes.
From fund to Public limited company
The work of the Dacapo Theatre has been revitalised by the development in the tasks. As part of an offensive growth strategy the Dacapo Theatre has transformed from being a fund to a Public limited company. The management group are principal shareholders but all employees have either a smaller or bigger share of the stocks.
